WCS earned the Project ADAM Heart Safe School Designation

WCS has officially earned the Project ADAM Heart Safe School Designation, marking an important milestone in school safety and emergency preparedness. This designation recognizes schools that have built strong cardiac emergency response plans, completed required training, and demonstrated readiness through hands-on drills.

This achievement was made possible through a team effort and strong community partnerships. WCS extends sincere thanks to the Cleveland Clinic and the Wooster Township Fire Department for their guidance, support, and collaboration throughout the certification process.

Appreciation is also owed to WCS staff and nurses for their dedication to student and staff safety. A special recognition goes to School Nurse Ruby Swartzentruber, who spearheaded the effort and helped lead the school through the steps needed to complete certification and successfully conduct the emergency drill.

In addition to training and preparation, access to life-saving equipment is a critical part of heart-safe readiness. One of WCS’s AEDs was purchased with the help of Project ADAM, and the school is grateful for that support. Having an AED readily available, along with a trained response team and a clear plan, can make a life-changing difference when seconds matter most.

Project ADAM, which stands for Automated Defibrillators in Adam’s Memory, is a national initiative focused on preventing deaths from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in schools and communities. The program works to establish cardiac emergency response programs, provide education and training, and ensure AEDs are accessible in the moments they are needed most.

By earning the Project ADAM Heart Safe School Designation, WCS is reinforcing its commitment to preparedness, proactive safety measures, and the well-being of every student, staff member, and visitor in the school community.
