Vikings' standout performances set the stage for upcoming championship |
The Cleveland State University cross country team is poised to conclude its 2025 season on a high note, heading into the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in Evansville, Indiana, on Friday, November 14.
Under the guidance of Coach Jason Hudson, now in his eighth season, the Vikings have demonstrated remarkable progress and resilience throughout the year.
At the recent Horizon League Championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana, senior Ana Crangle delivered a stellar performance, finishing fifth overall with a program-record time of 21:03.4 in the 6K race.
This achievement earned her First Team All-League honors for the second consecutive year, making her only the third Viking to receive multiple league accolades.
Junior Natalie Keller also shone, securing 16th place with a personal-best time of 21:40.1, the fifth-fastest in team history.
In preparation for the regionals, the team participated in the Wooster 5K Twilight Challenge at John P. Papp Stadium.
Crangle led the pack, finishing first with a time of 17:17, while Keller followed closely in second place at 17:40.
Senior Ariana Coats added to the team's success by placing fourth with a time of 18:51.
Reflecting on the season, Coach Hudson expressed pride in the team's development and achievements.
"We've seen significant improvements across the board," he noted.
"The dedication and hard work of athletes like Ana and Natalie have set a high standard for our program."
As the Vikings prepare for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, they carry with them a season of personal bests and record-breaking performances.
Their journey reflects not only individual excellence but also the collective spirit and determination that define Cleveland State cross country. |
